Auckland’s young musical visionary BENEE who holds a captivated audience of over 3 million monthly listeners on Spotify released her debut EP FIRE ON MARZZ in June 2019. Spanning six tracks, the EP includes huge viral hits Glitter, Evil Spider and her platinum-selling smash hit of the summer Soaked, which has so far received over 50 million streams and continues to sit atop the NZ Top 40 singles chart. She has just unveiled brand new single Find an Island.
With nominations in four categories in the New Zealand Music Awards including Best Solo Artist, Breakthrough Artist of the Year, Best Pop Artist and Single of the Year for Soaked, BENEE has been named an “artist to watch” by many and has become a globe-trotting force, taking her live show back and forth to the northern hemisphere. Recently selling out a one-off show in Wellington in 48 hours, and performing at Spotify’s FRONT LEFT event in Melbourne alongside Tove Lo & Dominic Fike, ahead of a sold-out show in London and a quick tour of the North East of North America before her next sold out Australian tour. She will return again in January for St Jerome’s Laneway Festival where she is set to perform alongside the likes of Charlie XCX, Rüfüs Du Sol and Ruel.
After a whirlwind few years, which has taken their music to the top of the charts and around the globe, Drax Project are without question, one of the hottest tickets in music right now. Their recently-released self-titled debut album has dominated the airwaves and Spotify, with smash hits such as ‘Woke Up Late’ feat Hailee Steinfeld; ‘Catching Feelings’ feat. Six60; ‘All This Time’ and ‘Toto’.
While studying jazz at college in Wellington, Drax Project - Shaan Singh (vocals, saxophone), Matt Beachen (drums), Sam Thomson (bass), and Ben O’Leary (guitar) - took what they learned in class and applied it to another pursuit, making pop their own. The group gained a following after re-working vocal hooks of famous pop songs into saxophone licks. Their cover of Kimbra's track, ‘Goldmine’ went viral and caught the attention of an influential producer, giving acclaim to the newly-introduced group.
The band has performed across the globe supporting the likes of Ed Sheeran in New Zealand, Christina Aguilera on the European leg of The X Tour as well as standout performances at Rolling Stone's Coachella party.
